I didn't get out this week to pick up comics, but I did get a gem of a Christmas present that should fill this week nicely. I finally got my hands on a copy of The Killing Joke. There are dozens, if not more, things I could say about it, but it's all been said. It's one of the best books I ever read, it's a must for any fan of either Batman or the Joker. The ending draws the perfect line between the two characters, showing their integral difference, then following it with a Punchline. Batman and the Joker share a short, thunderous laugh as the police cars come rolling up and the story ends.
The version I got was the hard cover deluxe edition, so in addition to the recoloured art there's also the short story at the end, An Innocent Guy. I can't stress enough, I loved this book, from cover to cover.

The deluxe edition also makes a change to the front cover: where the original edition's speech bubble had the Joker saying "SMILE", with no punctuation, the newer cover adds an exclamation point: "SMILE!"
