Friday's post, early.

I really wanted to write about the state of politics here in Canada, but honestly couldn't come up with anything that didn't boil down to childish name calling and mud slinging when I first sat down. I want to remain as neutral as possible while I'm writing this, because honestly, I don't have the answer. I have only heard from two people who's opinions on the subject I trust, who both seem to have enough of a handle on things that they have decided where they stand.

Unfortunately they both wear their bias somewhat on their sleeve and have fallen more or less right where one would expect, not to say they're not informed, they are. They're not mindlessly yessing because that's what good little supporters do, they've made their decision, and they're ready to fight for it. They make me wish that I had.

I am not opposed to the Coalition in principle, and I do think that the electoral system needs to be overhauled completely. My issues with putting the NDP and the Liberals in charge of the country as a group come down to trust, I don't trust them any more then I trust the ass who MUST go. Think about this, amongst themselves, in a few months time, two thirds of the Coalition will select the person leading our country, without our input.

I'd also like to ask a question of anyone reading this, can any of you cite a piece in support of the Coalition that A) Isn't more about getting rid of Harper then it is about the suitability of the Coalition to lead, and B) Does not have a Liberal, NDP, or Bloc logo right fucking on it? I'm still trying to find one, I haven't read the paper as much in the last year as I have in the last few days.

If I push that last point any further I risk invoking Godwin's Law and invalidating my own argument, but it's important to see propaganda when it's right in front of you. The job of the parties involved is to convince us that what they want is right, that's why we need independent bodies that we can trust to be involved in the process.

I want my country to be strong, I really do, and come January the shithead will be toast, no two ways about it, but if the Survey I read earlier is any indication the Coalition does not have the support of the majority of the country. I'm not interested in having another election either, but despite the cost and the waste, it may be what is best for us... If we can get rid of the Current Electoral System in the process.

Pensively, dejectedly, and ambivalently yours,

-James
