I know I said I'd be back to WoD after a few weeks, but the game is on hiatus so I'm gonna keep writing about other things until I need to get my brain back into the game's twisted little space in my head.
Yesterday I came across a hard cover of the Madrox miniseries that came before the current volume of X-Factor. I'd already heard good things about it, and I'm a fan of the series that spun off from it, so I thought "What the hell, this can't be worth less than $10."
I'd have paid more. X-Factor has it's own focus on keeping the stories in the vein of Noir, with Jamie specifically trying because it's how a detective acts to his mind.
In the mini Jamie travels to Chicago to investigate the murder of one of his dupes, while Guido and Rahne stay in Mutant Town to run the detective agency, at the time know as XXX Investigations.
During his investigation Jamie encounters a mob boss, his gorgeous girl friend, who seems to have "encountered" his dupe, and the mob boss's super powered hitman. Meanwhile back in New York the same hitman tries to kill the dupe Jamie left in his place.
It's a great little piece of detective fiction, I enjoyed it, you should give it a read.

Dammit, it's looking more and more like all I write about is comics every week.
I have to say I'm really pissed off at the people who were protesting "pro-life" along Yonge street today.
They were around last year too and the year before that, but it seems my anger was at an all time high today. Look I'm all for protesting to get a message across, but I do not need 3' by 3' images of bloody and mutilated babies.
My response? I walked by each one and gave them a stiff middle finger right to each of their faces. My theory is I have just as much right to protest my anger towards them as they do towards me. Hell I even gave the nun there the double bird.
Seriously, I don't like looking at dead babies while I drink my coffee.
Good call with on the nun, it's the only way they'll... no they won't learn.
Some people need to be told there's a difference between legitimate protest and using gross-out tactics to sway people away from whatever the hell you say your against.
PETA, I'm looking at you, quit showing me that video every time I go to a job fair.
